As the former unofficial capital of Labrador, this restored mercantile premises presents a snapshot of the rugged lifestyles of Battle Islands occupants in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and insights into the communitys establishment in 1770. This is the only National Historic District where visitors can stay overnight in restored heritage homes. A licensed Dining Hall serves hearty meals family-style and the General Store offers for sale craft items, basic groceries, beer, wine and spirits. Site admission fees include an optional guided and interperted tour of 30 different structures, buildings and pictureseque natural features.

Experience Labrador
Experience Labrador Experience Labrador is an aboriginally owned, family operated company, located at Cartwright, Labrador. We offer kayaking and open boat tours along the Coastal and Inland waters of Sandwich Bay and surrounding areas. We provide access to hiking and camping along the "Wonderstrand", a 52 km stretch of sandy beach nine miles north of Cartwright. On our kayak and boat tours expect to see whales, seals, seabirds including puffins and eider ducks. There are many large icebergs that pass along this area of the Labrador coast all summer long. Our tours range from one hour to nine days.
